I must tell you going to bed Friday night at 11:30 I was not feeling to well about the tournament, with thunder and lightning and heavy rain falling outside it was not looking good. To awaken to a beautiful sunrise, I knew the Lord would once again be watching over us. As Ray,Stew,Tim and I met at Dunkins to iron out a couple of things and to make sure that what we did forget would not have much of an impact on the day. This was a tournament with more questions than answers, would the weather hold up? How many teams would we have? Would there even be enough to play? What about food? When we pulled into the fields at quarter to 8 there were people already there. We had decided that we could play with as few as 3 teams but had to be prepaired for 8 9 10 we had no idea, we had a list with 23 names on it - we thought 5 teams would be ideal. We put off doing the "draw" to allow some late arrivals to get signed up - after the draw we had 5 teams with 11 players on each. I could not believe how equally matched the teams turned out,any team could have won the whole thing. Guys played hard all day, to see Hitman hit the ball like he did and Big Al smacking the ball all day long, and Mikey's high pitch and Jon's fast low ball,Johnathan taking out any questions about MVP and making it an easy decision. It was hot the fields weren't perfect,we ran out of food but in my opinion we had a perfect day. To play with and get to know some of the people I have played against for years is absolutely priceless - It could not be called anything but a "Fellowship Day" God Bless you all!!! And if God played softball it would be in the SCSU. It will be a surprise to me if in 20 years we are not playing the 20th annual fellowship family day tournament.
