WHAT: Softball Tournament for SCSU Players, Friends and Family with a Homerun Derby, Prizes, Pizza and more. Plus a whole lot of Fellowship! WHEN: Saturday August 28TH 2010 from 8am – 8pm. WHERE: Airport Fields in Sanford, Maine (CLCC Field may be utilized if necessary). WHY: To enjoy sun, fun and fellowship with other SCSU members and to raise money for our future SCSU Field. SCSU 1 Pitch Tournament Guidelines! Cost: $10 entry fee per player (Includes a minimum of 4 games & all you can eat Pizza). Eligible Participants: All current and former SCSU players, church members and their family and friends may participate. The Sign-Up deadline is 8am the day of the Tournament. Draft: All eligible players will be separated by Division (A, B, C and Potluck) and primary position (Outfield, Infield, Pitcher). Prior to the start of the Tournament, Pre-determined Coaches will alternate pulling an equal amount of names from each Division. The Coach is responsible for choosing whether he picks an Outfielder, Infielder or Pitcher each time. Each team will consist of a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 13 players. Rules: .44 Core Balls. ASA approved bats only. One Pitch, with one to waste. It will be a Round Robin format consisting of 4 games for every team. The Championship game will start at approx. 6pm and will consist of the 2 teams with the best overall records (Tiebreakers determined by run differential). No Homerun limit. Mercy Rule of 15 runs after 5 innings. No arc restrictions (If the ball hits the mat, it is a strike and the batter is out). Starting Rosters must include every player on the team, 10 Position Players and 1, 2 or 3 Extra Hitters. Players may rotate defensive positions at anytime during the game, but cannot change in the batting order until the start of the next game. If a player is injured, they will be removed from the batting order without penalty, but cannot return to the batting order until the start of the next game. If a courtesy runner is needed, they will be chosen by the opposing Coach. Uniforms: Each participant will where their Current or Former Team’s Shirt. Awards: Trophies will be given to the Head Coach of the 1st and 2nd place teams. Prizes will be awarded to the MVP of each team and a Trophy will be given to the MVP of the Championship Team (All MVP’s will be chosen by their respective Coaches). Homerun Derby: Everyone is eligible (Even if you do not participate in the Tournament). The Cost is $2 per person. We will use .47 core balls. ALL Bats are legal. Batter must choose one pitcher from a group of three pre-selected pitchers and must keep that pitcher for the entire round. First round is 5 outs per batter. In the Second round the Homeruns are reset to zero, 5 outs per batter and will consist of only the top 3 batters from the first round. A Trophy and Prize will be awarded to the Homerun Derby Champion, along with bragging rights! J Volunteers and contributions needed! In order to make this day a huge success, we will need the assistance of Coaches, Players, Families and Churches associated with the SCSU.
